In 2021, imports of prepared explosives into South Africa fell sharply to X tons, reducing by -26.9% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 260% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
