In 2022, exports of process control, gate, globe and other valves from South Africa amounted to X tons, picking up by 8.4% on the previous year's figure. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.

Overall, the export price saw a slight downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 26%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Madagascar ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lesotho ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, imports of process control, gate, globe and other valves expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest process control, gate, globe and other valves supplier to South Africa, accounting for a 67% share of total imports.
