Total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine-year period. Malaysia was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 62% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons), together committing a 29% share of total exports. The following exporters - Singapore (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) - each accounted for an 8.2% share of total exports.

Exports from Malaysia increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Indonesia (+40.0%), Vietnam (+37.6%), Singapore (+8.2%) and Thailand (+6.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +40.0% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Vietnam and Indonesia increased by +5.6 and +3.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the largest ABS copolymers supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 28% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 6.3% share.

Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +36.8% against 2018 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The following importers - the Philippines (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) - each resulted at an 8.2% share of total imports.
