Total exports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -26.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 36%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Indonesia (X tons) represented the largest exporter of activated natural mineral products, generating 66% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons), together making up a 33% share of total exports.
Exports from Indonesia increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Thailand (+12.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +12.8% from 2012-2021. In Indonesia, activated natural mineral products exports increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (-1.8% per year) and Thailand (+9.4% per year).

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
