The Southeast Asian antimony market declined rapidly to $X in 2022, which is down by -17.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a deep downturn. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, antimony exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports enjoyed a measured increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 125%. Myanmar, with a CAGR of +36.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 7.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (+6.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia

In 2022, the amount of antimony imported in South-Eastern Asia dropped remarkably to X tons, falling by -61.7% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 126% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, antimony imports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 95%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Thailand prevails in imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 83% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), making up a 9.1% share of total imports. The following importers - Malaysia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) - together made up 6.8% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to antimony imports into Thailand stood at -10.1%. At the same time, Vietnam (+18.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +18.2% from 2012-2022. In value terms, Thailand ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported antimony in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 85% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 7.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 3.7% share.

In Thailand, antimony imports plunged by an average annual rate of -9.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+23.8% per year) and Malaysia (-0.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, surging by 49% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the import price increased by 60% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Indonesia ($X per ton) and Thailand ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) and Malaysia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
