Antisera Market Size in South-Eastern Asia

The Southeast Asian antisera market reduced to $X in 2021, declining by -6.7% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last nine-year period. In general, exports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 155%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, antisera exports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 226%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Singapore dominates exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 89% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Thailand (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) - together made up 10% of total exports.

Exports from Singapore increased at an average annual rate of +13.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+68.1%) and Malaysia (+24.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +68.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Thailand (-10.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Singapore (+18 p.p.), Vietnam (+3.7 p.p.) and Malaysia (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Thailand (-23.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest antisera supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 100% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 0.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 0.1% share.

In Singapore, antisera exports increased at an average annual rate of +24.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (-4.6% per year) and Malaysia (+10.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per kg, surging by 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 56% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per kg), while Vietnam ($X per kg) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia

For the third consecutive year, South-Eastern Asia recorded growth in overseas purchases of antisera and other blood fractions, which increased by 70% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, antisera imports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 50%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Thailand (X tons) was the main importer of antisera and other blood fractions, constituting 36% of total imports. Vietnam (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the Philippines (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Singapore (X tons). All these countries together took near 54% share of total imports. Malaysia (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Vietnam, with a CAGR of +42.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -45.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 51% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
