Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 203% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aromatic polyamines exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 231% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Thailand prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 85% of total exports in 2021. Indonesia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 5.6% share, followed by Singapore (4.6%). Malaysia (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, salts thereof exports, with a CAGR of +43.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Indonesia (+30.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Malaysia (-1.7%) and Singapore (-29.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Thailand (+82 p.p.) and Indonesia (+5.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Singapore saw its share reduced by -87.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest aromatic polyamines supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a 6.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 3.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Thailand amounted to +45.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+32.7% per year) and Malaysia (-0.9% per year).

For the tenth year in a row, South-Eastern Asia recorded growth in purchases abroad of aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, salts thereof, which increased by 15% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +105.7% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, aromatic polyamines imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Thailand (X tons) was the largest importer of aromatic polyamines and their derivatives, salts thereof, comprising 55% of total imports. Indonesia (X tons) took a 25% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Vietnam (13%). The following importers - Singapore (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) - together made up 5.7% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to aromatic polyamines imports into Thailand stood at +12.6%. At the same time, Singapore (+15.5%), Vietnam (+12.4%) and Indonesia (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +15.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Malaysia (-14.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Thailand (+16 p.p.), Vietnam (+3.6 p.p.) and Singapore (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Indonesia and Malaysia saw its share reduced by -6.2% and -14.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In terms of the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +16.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
