As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of articles of asbestos-cement, of cellulose fibre-cement surged to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Thailand prevails in fibre-cement structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 81% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons), together mixing up an 18% share of total exports.

Exports from Thailand increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Indonesia (+10.7%) and Vietnam (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Imports in South-Eastern Asia

For the fourth consecutive year, South-Eastern Asia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of articles of asbestos-cement, of cellulose fibre-cement, which increased by 14% to X tons in 2021. Total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +88.5% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 49%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imports of articles of asbestos-cement, of cellulose fibre-cement surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 71%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Lao People's Democratic Republic represented the main importer of articles of asbestos-cement, of cellulose fibre-cement in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 49% of total imports in 2021. Malaysia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 19% share, followed by Cambodia (14%) and Myanmar (7.3%). The following importers - Vietnam (X tons) and Timor-Leste (X tons) - together made up 6.6% of total imports.

Imports into Lao People's Democratic Republic increased at an average annual rate of +18.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Timor-Leste (+51.8%), Malaysia (+25.7%) and Vietnam (+16.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Timor-Leste emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +51.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Myanmar (-9.5%) and Cambodia (-12.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Lao People's Democratic Republic (+36 p.p.), Malaysia (+16 p.p.), Vietnam (+2.8 p.p.) and Timor-Leste (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Myanmar and Cambodia saw its share reduced by -14.2% and -42.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, the largest articles of asbestos-cement, of cellulose fibre-cement importing markets in South-Eastern Asia were Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Vietnam ($X), together accounting for 42% of total imports. Cambodia, Myanmar and Timor-Leste lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 10%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Timor-Leste, with a CAGR of +34.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 2% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 88% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
