From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, bedspread exports shrank notably to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Malaysia (X units) and Cambodia (X units) prevails in exports structure, together committing 85% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X units), making up a 7.7% share of total exports. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 11% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. Malaysia was the main importer of bedspreads (excluding eiderdowns) in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was near 61% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the Philippines (X units) and Singapore (X units), together achieving a 26% share of total imports. Indonesia (X units), Myanmar (X units) and Brunei Darussalam (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to bedspread imports into Malaysia stood at +19.2%. At the same time, Indonesia (+48.7%), Myanmar (+34.2%), Singapore (+6.4%) and the Philippines (+4.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Malaysia ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Singapore ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 87% of total imports. Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9.5%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +36.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -13.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 279%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then fell in the following year.
