Thailand represented the largest exporter of brakes and servo-brakes in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 72% of total exports in 2022. Indonesia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Singapore (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 22% share of total exports. The following exporters - Malaysia (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) - together made up 6.1% of total exports.

While the share of Thailand (+9.8 p.p.), Vietnam (+2.5 p.p.) and the Philippines (+2.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Singapore (-2.5 p.p.), Indonesia (-5.7 p.p.) and Malaysia (-6.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest brakes and servo-brakes supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 78% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 5.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 5.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Thailand totaled +8.0%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (+4.9% per year) and Vietnam (+11.2% per year).

In 2022, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -1.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2022, purchases abroad of brakes and servo-brakes increased by 15% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 24%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, brakes and servo-brakes imports surged to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
