Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, camel-back strips exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant decrease. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Malaysia represented the main exporter of camel-back strips for retreading rubber tires in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 88% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), constituting a 10% share of total exports. Singapore (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Malaysia decreased at an average annual rate of -24.8% from 2012 to 2021. Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Vietnam (-9.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Vietnam (+8.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Malaysia saw its share reduced by -5.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the largest camel-back strips supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with an 18% share of total exports.
In Malaysia, camel-back strips exports decreased by an average annual rate of -27.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (-2.3% per year) and Singapore (-4.6% per year).

In 2021, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 12% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a mild curtailment. From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+7.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of camel-back strips for retreading rubber tires decreased by -64.9% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports saw a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 117%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, camel-back strips imports contracted remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 51%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The Philippines was the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded 66% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tons), achieving a 23% share of total imports. The following importers - Singapore (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) - together made up 8.6% of total imports.
The Philippines was also the fastest-growing in terms of the camel-back strips for retreading rubber tires imports, with a CAGR of +4.0% from 2012 to 2021. Malaysia (-3.6%), Thailand (-17.5%), Indonesia (-28.0%) and Singapore (-30.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Philippines (+59 p.p.) and Malaysia (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Singapore (-11.1 p.p.) and Indonesia (-48.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the Philippines ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Thailand ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 85% of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of -0.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, rising by 46% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the import price increased by 56%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+8.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
