For the fifth year in a row, South-Eastern Asia recorded growth in overseas purchases of chalk and dolomite, which increased by 113% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports showed a significant increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, dolomite imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 87% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2021, Indonesia (X tons) represented the major importer of chalk and dolomite, comprising 79% of total imports. Malaysia (X tons) took a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Vietnam (7.2%).
