Exports by Country

Vietnam represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X units, which accounted for 44% of total exports. The Philippines (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Thailand (X units), Malaysia (X units) and Singapore (X units). All these countries together held approx. 50% share of total exports. Indonesia (X units) and Cambodia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Vietnam increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% from 2020 to 2022. At the same time, Cambodia (+75.5%), the Philippines (+41.5%), Indonesia (+16.3%), Thailand (+13.6%) and Malaysia (+4.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +75.5% from 2020-2022. By contrast, Singapore (-6.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Philippines (+6.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam saw its share reduced by -2%, -2% and -4.2% from 2020 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest chandelier supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 42% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Philippines ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 14% share.

From 2020 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Vietnam amounted to +17.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Philippines (+51.0% per year) and Thailand (+25.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -5.5% against the previous year. Over the last two-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +13.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then contracted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2020 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+96.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia

In 2022, supplies from abroad of chandeliers increased by 54% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 58%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chandelier imports dropped modestly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 14%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of chandelier imports in 2022 were Vietnam (X units), Thailand (X units) and the Philippines (X units), together finishing at 67% of total import. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X units), Malaysia (X units) and Indonesia (X units), together committing a 28% share of total imports. Cambodia (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +42.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Singapore ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 63% share of total imports. The Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

Cambodia, with a CAGR of +31.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -37.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 113% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (-5.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
