Chicory Market Size in South-Eastern Asia

After three years of growth, the Southeast Asian chicory market decreased by -2.3% to $X in 2021. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, chicory exports shrank to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 497% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -49% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw moderate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 235%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Myanmar stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+20.5%).

In 2021, purchases abroad of chicory increased by 1,003% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports saw a resilient increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
