The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +68.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, common pottery exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Thailand (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) prevails in exports structure, together creating 79% of total exports. Vietnam (X tons) took a 9.8% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Indonesia (9.3%).

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Malaysia (with a CAGR of +23.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest common pottery supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 10% share.

In Thailand, common pottery exports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (+3.4% per year) and Indonesia (-3.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -27.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 8.5%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+4.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia

In 2022, supplies from abroad of common pottery decreased by -2.2% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -5.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, common pottery imports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 83%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Thailand (X tons) was the main importer of common pottery, creating 34% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Myanmar (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons), together comprising a 57% share of total imports. Vietnam (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Myanmar (with a CAGR of +33.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest common pottery importing markets in South-Eastern Asia were the Philippines ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Singapore ($X), together accounting for 70% of total imports. Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

Cambodia, with a CAGR of +23.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, common pottery import price increased by +16.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 54%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
