Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 396% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, denatured ethyl alcohol exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 262%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Singapore (X tons) was the main exporter of denatured ethyl alcohol and other denatured spirits, generating 50% of total exports. Vietnam (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 28% share, followed by the Philippines (15%) and Myanmar (5%).

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of denatured ethyl alcohol and other denatured spirits increased by 18% to X tons in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, denatured ethyl alcohol imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
