In 2021, the amount of dental cements and bone reconstruction cements exported in South-Eastern Asia totaled X tons, growing by 3.9% compared with the year before. Overall, exports posted a temperate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 39%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, medical reconstruction cements exports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 44%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Singapore represented the main exporter of dental cements and bone reconstruction cements in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near 55% of total exports in 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+10.0%), Cambodia (+7.1%) and Thailand (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +10.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Malaysia (-2.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Singapore (+15 p.p.), Vietnam (+12 p.p.) and Cambodia (+5.8 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest medical reconstruction cements supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 29% share of total exports. It was followed by Cambodia, with a 4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Singapore amounted to +14.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+18.5% per year) and Cambodia (-8.7% per year).

In 2021, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 9.3% against the previous year. Export price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, medical reconstruction cements export price increased by +36.5% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the export price increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Cambodia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, approx. X tons of dental cements and bone reconstruction cements were imported in South-Eastern Asia; picking up by 11% on the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -17.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 15%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

The purchases of the four major importers of dental cements and bone reconstruction cements, namely Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), creating a 7.9% share of total imports. The following importers - the Philippines (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons) - each resulted at a 4.5% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +18.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X), Singapore ($X) and Thailand ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 78% share of total imports. Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.

Indonesia, with a CAGR of +25.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, rising by 7.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the import price increased by 9.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
