The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.
Disperse Dye Production in South-Eastern Asia
In value terms, disperse dye production rose slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the peak level at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

After six years of decline, shipments abroad of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon increased by 46% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, disperse dye exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Indonesia (X tons) was the largest exporter of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon, comprising 67% of total exports. Singapore (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Thailand (X tons). All these countries together held near 28% share of total exports. Myanmar (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
Exports from Indonesia decreased at an average annual rate of -1.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Myanmar (+143.5%), Thailand (+9.0%) and Singapore (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Myanmar emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +143.5% from 2012-2021. While the share of Singapore (+3.2 p.p.), Thailand (+2.4 p.p.) and Myanmar (+2.4 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Indonesia (-10.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Indonesia ($X), Singapore ($X) and Myanmar ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 95% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +818.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, declining by -4.1% against the previous year. Export price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, disperse dye export price increased by +89.5% against 2013 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 24%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then fell slightly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2021, purchases abroad of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon increased by 35% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, disperse dye imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -10.5% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 24%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Indonesia represented the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 56% of total imports. Vietnam (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Thailand (X tons) and Singapore (X tons). All these countries together took near 38% share of total imports. Malaysia (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
Indonesia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of disperse dyes and preparations based thereon. At the same time, Cambodia (+31.4%), Malaysia (+4.6%) and Vietnam (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +31.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Thailand (-3.8%) and Singapore (-4.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Vietnam (+4.4 p.p.), Indonesia (+1.9 p.p.) and Cambodia (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Singapore (-2.6 p.p.) and Thailand (-4.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest disperse dye importing markets in South-Eastern Asia were Indonesia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Thailand ($X), together comprising 87% of total imports. Singapore, Malaysia and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.
Among the main importing countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +28.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -11.1% against the previous year. Import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, disperse dye import price decreased by -14.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
