At the same time, Singapore (+130.5%), Thailand (+41.6%), Malaysia (+39.3%) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (+35.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +130.5% from 2012-2022. Indonesia (+61 p.p.) and Singapore (+2.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Thailand, Lao People's Democratic Republic and Malaysia saw its share reduced by -4.4%, -26.6% and -32% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Indonesia ($X) remains the largest dissolving grade wood pulp supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 12% share.
In Indonesia, dissolving grade wood pulp exports increased at an average annual rate of +107.6% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Lao People's Democratic Republic (+34.4% per year) and Malaysia (+31.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 14% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a noticeable reduction. In 2022, the amount of dissolving grade wood pulp imported in South-Eastern Asia shrank modestly to X tons, with a decrease of -4.6% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 35%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, dissolving grade wood pulp imports surged to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
