Wood dryer exports skyrocketed to X units in 2021, growing by 64% on the previous year. Over the period under review, exports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 989%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wood dryer exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 574% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Singapore represented the key exporter of dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports accounting for X units, which was approx. 70% of total exports in 2021. Malaysia (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Thailand (X units). All these countries together took approx. 25% share of total exports. Vietnam (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.
Singapore was also the fastest-growing in terms of the dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard exports, with a CAGR of +44.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Thailand (+24.1%), Malaysia (+6.5%) and Vietnam (+5.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Singapore (+55 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Vietnam (-9.7 p.p.) and Malaysia (-43.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the largest wood dryer supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 12% share.
In Malaysia, wood dryer exports increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (+8.7% per year) and Thailand (+9.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 9.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 61% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+20.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of dryers for wood, paper pulp, paper or paperboard, when their volume increased by 70% to X units. Overall, imports continue to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 4,327%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wood dryer imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Indonesia (X units) and Vietnam (X units) dominates imports structure, together committing 81% of total imports. The Philippines (X units) took a 6.9% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Malaysia (5.7%). Thailand (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +28.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Indonesia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Malaysia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 94% of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +34.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 181% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 4,386% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+9.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
