The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, electric oven and cooker exports rose sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Thailand represented the major exporting country with an export of around X units, which finished at 65% of total exports. Malaysia (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Vietnam (X units) and Singapore (X units). All these countries together took approx. 34% share of total exports.

Thailand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters. At the same time, Malaysia (+15.8%) and Vietnam (+9.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +15.8% from 2012-2022. Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest electric oven and cooker supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 4.4% share.

In Thailand, electric oven and cooker exports expanded at an average annual rate of +9.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Malaysia (+24.2% per year) and Vietnam (+7.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 4.5% against the previous year. Export price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, electric oven and cooker export price increased by +117.8% against 2012 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 22%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters decreased by -34.4% to X units in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 69%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, electric oven and cooker imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 26%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Imports by Country

Thailand was the major importing country with an import of about X units, which recorded 79% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the Philippines (X units), making up a 10% share of total imports. Vietnam (X units), Singapore (X units) and Malaysia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the electric ovens, cookers, cooking plates, boiling rings, grillers and roasters imports, with a CAGR of +28.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Vietnam (+12.9%), Malaysia (+10.9%), the Philippines (+8.7%) and Singapore (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Thailand (+41 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Vietnam (-2.5 p.p.), Malaysia (-2.7 p.p.), Singapore (-13.1 p.p.) and the Philippines (-16.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 14% share.

In Vietnam, electric oven and cooker imports expanded at an average annual rate of +13.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Thailand (+11.6% per year) and Malaysia (+8.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
