Among the main exporting countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +38.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, growing by 19% against the previous year. Export price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, electronic chip imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Singapore represented the largest importer of electronic chips in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was near 50% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X units), Malaysia (X units), the Philippines (X units) and Thailand (X units), together making up a 47% share of total imports. Indonesia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to electronic chip imports into Singapore stood at -3.7%. At the same time, Vietnam (+19.4%), the Philippines (+8.8%) and Malaysia (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +19.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Indonesia (-9.1%) and Thailand (-16.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electronic chips in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 17% share.

In Singapore, electronic chip imports increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (+22.3% per year) and Malaysia (+9.1% per year).
