The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the production volume increased by 45%. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2022, approx. X tons of ethers were exported in South-Eastern Asia; jumping by 16% against the previous year. Total exports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +54.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, ether exports surged to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +111.2% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 74%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Singapore (X tons) represented the main exporter of ethers, committing 50% of total exports. Malaysia (X tons) took a 26% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Thailand (16%) and Indonesia (9%).
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +25.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) emerged as the largest ether supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 17% share.
In Singapore, ether exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Malaysia (-0.3% per year) and Thailand (+11.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 36%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+1.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of ethers increased by 50% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +56.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, ether imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw strong growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Singapore represented the main importer of ethers in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 72% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), making up an 18% share of total imports. Indonesia (X tons), Brunei Darussalam (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to ether imports into Singapore stood at +5.2%. At the same time, Brunei Darussalam (+24.8%), Vietnam (+15.9%), Malaysia (+10.1%) and Indonesia (+8.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brunei Darussalam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +24.8% from 2012-2022. While the share of Malaysia (+5.4 p.p.) and Brunei Darussalam (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Singapore (-7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ethers in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 70% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 6.9% share.
In Singapore, ether imports increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Malaysia (+4.0% per year) and Indonesia (+8.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 23% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 43% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+0.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
