Myanmar (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) dominates exports structure, together making up 81% of total exports. Vietnam (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 9.5% share, followed by Malaysia (5.1%). Thailand (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +39.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Indonesia ($X) remains the largest fish meals and pellet supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Myanmar, with an 8.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Indonesia totaled +10.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (+27.4% per year) and Myanmar (+15.7% per year).

Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last nine-year period. From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to fish meals and pellet imports into Malaysia stood at +21.7%. At the same time, Brunei Darussalam (+25.4%), Vietnam (+12.3%), Myanmar (+10.4%), Lao People's Democratic Republic (+7.7%) and Indonesia (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brunei Darussalam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +25.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Singapore (-16.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
