Thailand (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) dominates exports structure, together creating 93% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), creating a 6.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +35.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, Singapore ($X), Thailand ($X) and Malaysia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 95% share of total exports.

Singapore, with a CAGR of +21.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the export price increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia

For the third year in a row, South-Eastern Asia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines, which increased by 8.5% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 41%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 74%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

The Philippines (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) dominates imports structure, together comprising 73% of total imports. Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Singapore (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 18% share of total imports. The following importers - Indonesia (X tons), Cambodia (X tons) and Brunei Darussalam (X tons) - together made up 8.1% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Lao People's Democratic Republic (with a CAGR of +42.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by the Philippines, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Singapore stood at +20.7%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+15.7% per year) and the Philippines (+6.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 24% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 49%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
