In 2021, Thailand (X tons) was the major exporter of prepared dishes and meals, mixing up 42% of total exports. Malaysia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 18% share, followed by Indonesia (18%) and Singapore (18%). The following exporters - Vietnam (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) - together made up 4.5% of total exports.

Exports from Thailand increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+19.9%), Indonesia (+15.8%), Singapore (+13.2%), Malaysia (+8.5%) and the Philippines (+2.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +19.9% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam increased by +8.1, +5.7 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest prepared dish and meal supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Thailand ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with an 8.5% share.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +79.6% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Singapore (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) was the major importer of prepared dishes and meals in South-Eastern Asia, committing 93% of total import. It was distantly followed by Cambodia (X tons), achieving a 4.8% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +13.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X), Malaysia ($X) and the Philippines ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 50% of total imports.
