Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 208%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+0.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Gas supply meter imports skyrocketed to X units in 2021, picking up by 25% on 2020. Total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +48.1% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, gas supply meter imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports posted a moderate increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 113%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Indonesia (X units) and Singapore (X units) prevails in imports structure, together creating 82% of total imports. Vietnam (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Malaysia (X units). All these countries together held approx. 13% share of total imports. Thailand (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +20.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported gas supply or production meters in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 17% share.

In Singapore, gas supply meter imports increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+4.8% per year) and Thailand (-2.2% per year).

In 2021, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -13.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
