Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chicken egg exports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Malaysia represented the main exporter of chicken eggs in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near 73% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), committing a 25% share of total exports.

Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +83.0% against 2017 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Singapore prevails in imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 95% of total imports in 2022. The following importers - Timor-Leste (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) - each resulted at a 3.8% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to chicken egg imports into Singapore stood at +2.5%. At the same time, the Philippines (+404.0%) and Timor-Leste (+7.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +404.0% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the Philippines increased by +1.8 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported chicken eggs in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 96% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Timor-Leste ($X), with a 1.7% share of total imports.

In Singapore, chicken egg imports increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Timor-Leste (+8.7% per year) and the Philippines (+167.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, rising by 45% against the previous year. Import price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, chicken egg import price increased by +60.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+3.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
