Total exports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +73.9% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports totaled $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +43.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Thailand represented the largest exporter of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined) in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports reaching X units, which was approx. 81% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X units), committing a 14% share of total exports. Indonesia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports from Thailand stood at +1.9%. At the same time, Vietnam (+17.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +17.4% from 2012-2022. In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest non-combined refrigerator-freezer supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 78% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with a 15% share of total exports.
In Thailand, non-combined refrigerator-freezer exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Vietnam (+20.5% per year) and Indonesia (+1.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 6.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 31% against the previous year. In 2022, approx. X units of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined) were imported in South-Eastern Asia; which is down by -18.5% compared with the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 28%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-combined refrigerator-freezer imports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Malaysia (X units), distantly followed by Thailand (X units), the Philippines (X units), Indonesia (X units), Vietnam (X units), Myanmar (X units) and Singapore (X units) were the major importers of household refrigerators and freezers (not combined), together creating 96% of total imports. Cambodia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +18.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Indonesia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 58% share of total imports. Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
Thailand, with a CAGR of +12.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 7.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a noticeable downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while Myanmar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
