In general, exports posted a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 104% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, ignition magneto exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 97%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Indonesia represented the largest exporter of ignition magnetos, magneto-dynamos and magnetic flywheels in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was near 46% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Cambodia (X units) and Thailand (X units), together comprising a 45% share of total exports. The following exporters - Singapore (X units) and the Philippines (X units) - together made up 6% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +44.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Cambodia ($X) remains the largest ignition magneto supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 20% share.
In Cambodia, ignition magneto exports increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Indonesia (+3.2% per year) and Thailand (-6.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 22% against the previous year. Export price indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of ignition magnetos, magneto-dynamos and magnetic flywheels, when their volume increased by 29% to X units. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 59% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, ignition magneto imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Indonesia (X units) was the key importer of ignition magnetos, magneto-dynamos and magnetic flywheels, committing 57% of total imports. Thailand (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Vietnam (X units). All these countries together took near 39% share of total imports. Malaysia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Indonesia increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Thailand (+22.4%), Malaysia (+9.9%) and Vietnam (+7.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +22.4% from 2012-2021. While the share of Thailand (+19 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest ignition magneto importing markets in South-Eastern Asia were Thailand ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Vietnam ($X), with a combined 95% share of total imports.
Thailand, with a CAGR of +25.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -14.7% against the previous year. Import price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.
