Singapore was the main exporter of iodine, fluorine and bromine in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was near 62% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons), together creating a 38% share of total exports.
Exports from Singapore increased at an average annual rate of +16.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Malaysia (+17.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +17.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Indonesia (-6.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Singapore and Malaysia increased by +24 and +12 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest iodine, fluorine and bromine supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Singapore totaled +25.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (-13.1% per year) and Malaysia (+21.3% per year).

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
After three years of decline, overseas purchases of iodine, fluorine and bromine increased by 44% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 258% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, iodine, fluorine and bromine imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 107% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Singapore prevails in imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 91% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), constituting a 4.7% share of total imports. Malaysia (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
