In 2021, Thailand (X tons) represented the largest exporter of knives, scissors and blades, mixing up 67% of total exports. Vietnam (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons). All these countries together held near 29% share of total exports. Singapore (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the knives, scissors and blades exports, with a CAGR of +32.3% from 2012 to 2021. The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -44.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +49.7% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 48%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, knife and scissors imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -6.3% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 68%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Indonesia (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the major importers of knives, scissors and blades in 2021, amounting to near 41% and 34% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons), together achieving an 18% share of total imports. Singapore (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +16.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
