The country with the largest volume of lentil production was Myanmar (X tons), accounting for 99% of total volume.

Myanmar prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 94% of total exports in 2022. Malaysia (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+3.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2022, overseas purchases of lentils were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, lentil imports reached $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Malaysia (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) dominates imports structure, together making up 90% of total imports. The following importers - Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons), Cambodia (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) - together made up 7.4% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +43.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X), Singapore ($X) and Cambodia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 91% of total imports. Lao People's Democratic Republic and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 3.6%.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +38.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, declining by -12.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($X per ton), while Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
