While the share of the Philippines (+2.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Indonesia (-2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Indonesia ($X) remains the largest lignite supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Philippines ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Indonesia amounted to +6.3%.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -19.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by 82% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

Thailand was the largest importer of lignites in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was near 69% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the Philippines (X tons), making up a 31% share of total imports.

Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the lignites imports, with a CAGR of +67.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Philippines (+9.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Thailand (+66 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of the Philippines (-46.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
