Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 21%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, fishing rod exports rose significantly to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Vietnam (X tons), distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Singapore (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the major exporters of fishing rods and other line fishing tackle, together generating 97% of total exports. Cambodia (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Cambodia (with a CAGR of +60.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest fishing rod supplying countries in South-Eastern Asia were Vietnam ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Thailand ($X), with a combined 77% share of total exports. Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.
Among the main exporting countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +51.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, growing by 3.5% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 8.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Cambodia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+4.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
Fishing rod imports surged to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 57% compared with the year before. Overall, imports saw a resilient expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fishing rod imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Indonesia was the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which finished at 47% of total imports. Thailand (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 28% share, followed by Singapore (11%), the Philippines (5.1%) and Malaysia (4.9%). Vietnam (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +21.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fishing rods and other line fishing tackle in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 16% share.
In Singapore, fishing rod imports expanded at an average annual rate of +12.3% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+20.3% per year) and Malaysia (-3.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -22.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+7.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
