By contrast, Thailand (-2.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Vietnam (+5.7 p.p.), Malaysia (+3.6 p.p.) and Singapore (+2.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Thailand saw its share reduced by -14.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported maleic anhydride in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 12% share.

In Singapore, maleic anhydride imports expanded at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+5.1% per year) and Thailand (-2.9% per year).
