Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 22%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, marble building stone exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +69.4% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 32%. Vietnam prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was approx. 85% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tons), comprising a 5.3% share of total exports. Singapore (X tons), Myanmar (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to marble building stone exports from Vietnam stood at +11.6%. At the same time, Myanmar (+33.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Myanmar emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +33.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Singapore (-5.6%), Indonesia (-16.8%) and the Philippines (-28.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest marble building stone supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with an 8.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 4.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Vietnam stood at +10.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (-14.0% per year) and Singapore (-10.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 6.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 8.9% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+11.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, approx. X tons of marble building stone were imported in South-Eastern Asia; jumping by 16% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 12%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
