From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of production, amongst the key producing countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +10.2%), while production for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the production figures.
In 2022, the average yield of goat meat in South-Eastern Asia contracted dramatically to X kg per head, dropping by -23.3% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, the yield continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 61%. The level of yield peaked at X kg per head in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the yield failed to regain momentum.
In 2022, the number of animals slaughtered for goat meat production in South-Eastern Asia skyrocketed to X heads, increasing by 30% on the previous year's figure. This number increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, this number reached the maximum level at X heads in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, producing animals stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2022, shipments abroad of goat meat increased by 233% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 569%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, goat meat exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 1,102% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Myanmar represented the key exporter of goat meat in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 63% of total exports in 2022. Singapore (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 17% share, followed by Malaysia (12%) and Vietnam (8%).
Exports from Myanmar decreased at an average annual rate of -5.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Singapore (+56.4%) and Vietnam (+11.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +56.4% from 2012-2022. Malaysia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia increased by +17, +5.9 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Myanmar ($X) remains the largest goat meat supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 6.7% share.
In Myanmar, goat meat exports declined by an average annual rate of -5.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (+43.7% per year) and Malaysia (-1.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 27% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 80%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Myanmar ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
Goat meat imports soared to X tons in 2022, with an increase of 59% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 181% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 136% against the previous year. Imports by Country
Malaysia was the largest importing country with an import of around X tons, which accounted for 66% of total imports. Vietnam (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 21% share, followed by Singapore (13%).
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to goat meat imports into Malaysia stood at -9.3%. At the same time, Singapore (+28.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +28.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Vietnam (-12.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Singapore (+12 p.p.) and Malaysia (+4.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Vietnam (-5.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, the largest goat meat importing markets in South-Eastern Asia were Malaysia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Singapore ($X), with a combined 99% share of total imports.
Singapore, with a CAGR of +24.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -18.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 56%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
