In 2022, the amount of microphones and their stands exported in South-Eastern Asia reduced to X units, waning by -12.7% against 2021. Total exports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +25.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 95%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, microphone exports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 85%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Exports by Country
Malaysia dominates exports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 77% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X units), comprising a 9.4% share of total exports. Singapore (X units), Thailand (X units), Indonesia (X units) and the Philippines (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to microphone exports from Malaysia stood at +4.6%. At the same time, Vietnam (+16.0%) and Thailand (+6.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +16.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Singapore (-6.1%), the Philippines (-7.9%) and Indonesia (-19.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Malaysia and Vietnam increased by +17 and +6.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the largest microphone supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with an 8.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with an 8.1% share.
In Malaysia, microphone exports increased at an average annual rate of +11.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (+6.3% per year) and Vietnam (+17.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 27%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+18.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2022, imports of microphones and their stands in South-Eastern Asia rose notably to X units, growing by 6.1% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports recorded a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, microphone imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 43% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.
Imports by Country
Thailand represented the main importing country with an import of about X units, which resulted at 50% of total imports. Indonesia (X units) held a 25% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Vietnam (12%) and Malaysia (12%).
Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the microphones and their stands imports, with a CAGR of +36.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Malaysia (+26.8%), Indonesia (+14.5%) and Vietnam (+13.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Thailand (+38 p.p.) and Malaysia (+5.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Vietnam and Indonesia saw its share reduced by -7.4% and -11% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

Among the main importing countries, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +27.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -15.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
