Lao People's Democratic Republic was also the fastest-growing in terms of the mixtures of slag exports, with a CAGR of +22.2% from 2012 to 2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Lao People's Democratic Republic increased by +6.9 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of mixtures of slag decreased by -22.7% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after seven years of growth. In general, imports, however, saw slight growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 45%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, mixtures of slag imports shrank significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Singapore dominates imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 94% of total imports in 2021. Myanmar (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of mixtures of slag. At the same time, Myanmar (+20.8%) and Cambodia (+20.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Myanmar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +20.8% from 2012-2021. Myanmar (+2.3 p.p.) and Cambodia (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Singapore saw its share reduced by -4.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported mixtures of slag in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 87% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Myanmar ($X), with a 4.4% share of total imports.

In Singapore, mixtures of slag imports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Myanmar (+15.5% per year) and Cambodia (+20.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 4.3% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the import price increased by 15% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Myanmar ($X per ton), while Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
