For the third consecutive year, the Southeast Asian multimeter market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 12% to $X in 2022. The total consumption indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +34.9% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Multimeter Production in South-Eastern Asia

In value terms, multimeter production amounted to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -2.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 25%. In 2022, shipments abroad of multimeters decreased by -17.5% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 99%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, multimeter exports fell slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 115%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Singapore was the key exporter of multimeters in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was approx. 45% of total exports in 2022. Myanmar (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 26% share, followed by Malaysia (17%) and Thailand (8.2%). Indonesia (X units) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Myanmar (with a CAGR of +336.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest multimeter supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Singapore totaled +21.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Malaysia (+4.5% per year) and Thailand (+11.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, surging by 16% against the previous year. Export price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, multimeter export price increased by +100.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by 72%. Imports in South-Eastern Asia

In 2022, imports of multimeters in South-Eastern Asia surged to X units, rising by 18% on the previous year. Overall, imports saw strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 44%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

In value terms, multimeter imports expanded notably to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Indonesia (X units) was the major importer of multimeters, comprising 53% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X units), Malaysia (X units), Vietnam (X units), Thailand (X units) and the Philippines (X units), together mixing up a 46% share of total imports.

Imports into Indonesia increased at an average annual rate of +15.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Vietnam (+27.7%), Singapore (+13.1%), Malaysia (+10.9%) and the Philippines (+6.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +27.7% from 2012-2022. Thailand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Indonesia (+12 p.p.) and Vietnam (+7.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Malaysia (-1.7 p.p.), the Philippines (-3.7 p.p.) and Thailand (-14.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported multimeters in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 39% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Singapore totaled +16.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+21.4% per year) and Thailand (-1.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in South-Eastern Asia amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -4.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 40% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
