Overall, exports posted a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 46%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, non-alloy aluminium bar exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a strong increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The Philippines (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) dominates exports structure, together generating 84% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tons), generating a 6.5% share of total exports. Singapore (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +30.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-alloy aluminium bar supplying countries in South-Eastern Asia were the Philippines ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Indonesia ($X), together accounting for 86% of total exports.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
