For the third consecutive year, South-Eastern Asia recorded growth in shipments abroad of oxides of boron and boric acids, which increased by 8.7% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 104% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, boron oxide and boric acid exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 83%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

The following importers - Indonesia (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) - each recorded a 7.7% share of total imports.

Malaysia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the oxides of boron and boric acids imports, with a CAGR of +12.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+12.0%) and Thailand (+11.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, Malaysia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported oxides of boron and boric acids in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 14% share.

In Malaysia, boron oxide and boric acid imports expanded at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Thailand (+9.2% per year) and Vietnam (+9.1% per year).
