The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -6.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Plastic doors and windows imports soared to X units in 2022, picking up by 17% against the previous year. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +30.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The following importers - Myanmar (X units) and Vietnam (X units) - together made up 7.2% of total imports.

Imports into Thailand increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cambodia (+17.4%), Singapore (+13.5%), Vietnam (+13.0%) and Myanmar (+10.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +17.4% from 2012-2022. Indonesia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Philippines (-3.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Thailand (+20 p.p.), Singapore (+6.2 p.p.), Cambodia (+4 p.p.) and Vietnam (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Indonesia (-11 p.p.) and the Philippines (-15.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), Singapore ($X) and Indonesia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 75% share of total imports. Cambodia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.

Cambodia, with a CAGR of +21.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 3.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
