Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, shaving preparations exports amounted to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -5.5% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 94%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Thailand was the main exporter of pre-shave, shaving and after-shave preparations (excluding soap in blocks) in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 77% of total exports in 2021. Singapore (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons). All these countries together held near 20% share of total exports. Indonesia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to shaving preparations exports from Thailand stood at +13.9%. At the same time, Singapore (+15.6%) and Vietnam (+7.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +15.6% from 2012-2021. In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest shaving preparations supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with an 8.3% share.

In Thailand, shaving preparations exports increased at an average annual rate of +11.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (+16.8% per year) and Vietnam (+5.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 4.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 7.8% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia

In 2021, overseas purchases of pre-shave, shaving and after-shave preparations (excluding soap in blocks) decreased by -3.7% to X tons, falling for the fifth year in a row after two years of growth. Total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -33.6% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, shaving preparations imports reduced to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Singapore (X tons), distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the largest importers of pre-shave, shaving and after-shave preparations (excluding soap in blocks), together comprising 98% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +27.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
