Exports from Vietnam decreased at an average annual rate of -4.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Singapore (+26.6%), Myanmar (+7.5%) and Indonesia (+4.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +26.6% from 2012-2022. While the share of Singapore (+5.2 p.p.) and Indonesia (+3.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Vietnam (-8.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest prepared birds skin supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 6.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 2.6% share.

In Vietnam, prepared birds skin exports declined by an average annual rate of -4.6% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (+27.2% per year) and Indonesia (+17.1% per year).

After three years of decline, overseas purchases of prepared skins of birds increased by 99% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt slump. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, prepared birds skin imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a abrupt setback. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In Vietnam, prepared birds skin imports plunged by an average annual rate of -8.6% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (+31.0% per year) and Myanmar (+20.1% per year).
