Over the period under review, imports recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 113% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, pyrites imports fell slightly to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 84%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Imports by Country

Thailand was the main importing country with an import of around X tons, which amounted to 68% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tons) and Singapore (X tons), together making up a 28% share of total imports.

Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the pyrites imports, with a CAGR of +34.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Singapore (+16.7%) and Indonesia (+6.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Thailand (+51 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Indonesia saw its share reduced by -22.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), Singapore ($X) and Indonesia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 94% of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Thailand, with a CAGR of +26.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -31.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the import price increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
