Radar Apparatus Market Size in South-Eastern Asia

Exports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2022, the amount of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus exported in South-Eastern Asia dropped to X units, shrinking by -10.1% on 2021 figures. Total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +39.2% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 41%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, radar apparatus exports contracted modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 53% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Malaysia (X units) represented the key exporter of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus, achieving 40% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X units), Vietnam (X units), the Philippines (X units), Thailand (X units) and Indonesia (X units), together mixing up a 59% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to radar apparatus exports from Malaysia stood at +15.5%. At the same time, Vietnam (+26.9%), Singapore (+13.6%), Thailand (+6.0%) and the Philippines (+5.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of +26.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Indonesia (-14.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Malaysia (+24 p.p.), Vietnam (+12 p.p.) and Singapore (+9.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Indonesia saw its share reduced by -47.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest radar apparatus supplying countries in South-Eastern Asia were Singapore ($X), Malaysia ($X) and the Philippines ($X), together accounting for 84% of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +26.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 8.3% against the previous year. Export price indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, radar apparatus export price increased by +8.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 26%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+19.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in South-Eastern Asia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus increased by 27% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, radar apparatus imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of radar apparatus imports in 2022 were Indonesia (X units), Singapore (X units) and Thailand (X units), together reaching 83% of total import. Vietnam (X units) took a 6.4% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Malaysia (5.3%) and the Philippines (5%).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +7.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Thailand ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 81% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +21.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
