Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 131% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Singapore was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 75% of total exports. Indonesia (X tons) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Thailand (11%). Malaysia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Singapore was also the fastest-growing in terms of the raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries exports, with a CAGR of +26.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Malaysia (+14.9%), Indonesia (+12.4%) and Thailand (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Singapore (+41 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Indonesia and Thailand saw its share reduced by -4.8% and -32.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry supplier in South-Eastern Asia, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Singapore stood at +24.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Indonesia (+39.6% per year) and Thailand (+1.9% per year).

The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -36.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 98% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports totaled X tons in 2022, approximately equating the previous year's figure. Overall, imports posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 39%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Singapore (X tons) represented the major importer of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries, comprising 55% of total imports.
