Fromwork exports soared to X tons in 2022, increasing by 47% compared with the year before. Overall, exports continue to indicate a measured expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 89% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, fromwork exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 95% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Vietnam was the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 73% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), creating a 21% share of total exports. Singapore (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.
Vietnam was also the fastest-growing in terms of the shuttering for concrete constructional work, shingles and shakes, of wood exports, with a CAGR of +46.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Singapore (+4.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Indonesia (-3.6%) and Malaysia (-10.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In Vietnam, fromwork exports expanded at an average annual rate of +42.4% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (-8.2% per year) and Singapore (+6.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in South-Eastern Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 16% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 18%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+2.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of shuttering for concrete constructional work, shingles and shakes, of wood were finally on the rise to reach X tons after four years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced curtailment. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, fromwork imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Malaysia was the key importer of shuttering for concrete constructional work, shingles and shakes, of wood in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 70% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons), together constituting a 25% share of total imports. Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
Malaysia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the shuttering for concrete constructional work, shingles and shakes, of wood imports, with a CAGR of +22.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Indonesia (+18.8%), Cambodia (+17.3%), Thailand (+5.8%) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (+2.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. The second position in the ranking was taken by Thailand ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 9.6% share.
In Malaysia, fromwork imports increased at an average annual rate of +10.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+18.2% per year) and Indonesia (+9.9% per year).

Import price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 205%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
